Unseasonal heat and wind spark 20 uncontrolled fires

HOT, dry September weather put firefighters through a pre-summer test yesterday as 20 uncontrolled fires raged across the state, much of which was under an unusually early total fire ban. The worst were in Lake Macquarie, Port Stephens, Eurobodalla and Guerilla Bay.
